Andy Anderson Music: Portland Folk with Southern Charm
|
"Andy Anderson has a gift for storytelling in a direct, emotionally accessible way."
Michael Henchman, Singer/Songwriter |
"Andy brings characters to life in vivid color, against an easy acoustic guitar background."
Teri Robinson, Writer/Filmmaker Like any good Southerner (or any Southerner worth their salt), Andy Anderson loves a good story. And he has plenty to tell. As a military-brat, by 18 he’d moved more than a dozen times, before returning to his family’s native Louisiana. He developed a keen eye and ear early, listening to “The Masters” on the radio with his father and mother. Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard merged with Benny Goodman and Nat King Cole. Later, he listened and learned from more (then) contemporary icons like Harry Chapin, James Taylor, John Prine, John Fahey, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, and Bob Dylan. |

"Andy's well-crafted songs shine like gems as they tug at your heart. The poise with which he addresses the audience, his formidable guitar chops, and his pleasant voice, all combine to assure the listener that their ears are in good care. Andy Anderson is definitely his own man as a singer-songwriter, but listening to him I was reminded of the late, great Steve Goodman in as much as this level of skill is rare."
